Scotland's Highlands and North Coast

The chapel of St Mary at Crosskirk is said to be the oldest surviving ecclesiastical building in Caithness, probably built in the 1100s. We followed signs to a car park hoping to walk to it from there. It was a nice walk along the River Forss but we only got as far as a farmhouse ruin as the bridge across the river to St Mary's was closed 'deemed unsafe'.
